Monsters In The Movies

Another great Monster book to put out on the coffee table!

John Landis the director of American Werewolf in Paris, has created a fantastic book Monsters in the Movies. The book is filled with more than 1000 images of Werewolves, Aliens and Monsters from Hollywood’s big budget and low budget monster films. Landis provides entertaining insights and interviews with fellow monster movie makers, David Cronenberg, Christopher Lee, John Carpenter and Sam Raimi. He also examines the historical origins of monsters, such as vampires, zombies, and werewolves. The book also takes you behind the scenes into the world of moviemaking, discover the secrets of the special-effects wizards who created such legendary frighteners as King Kong, Dracula, and Halloween’s Michael Myers.

See You Next Wednesday

A fun fact about John Landis, he inserts references to a fictional film called See You Next Wednesday in the films he directs. A line from Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey; the last words Frank Poole’s parents say in their video to him before signing off. Also mentioned in the opening scene of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”, the police decode a message from MJ’s werecat character.
